After reading thru the IRC chat last night I learned why they won't allow us to host ranked servers. They don't trust the public with the ranked servers. Since this was your main concern, why didn't you use Trusted Partner server providers to rent Ranked servers? This is what most Game Developers are using now. It allows the public to rent servers, host ranked servers but at the same time restrict them to a limited set of game settings and server files.
I see you have put up many Official servers but most are in TX? I think official servers would have been more useful in parts of the world that needed servers. Although I use NFO servers for my dedicated servers, GameServers provides co-located servers throughout the world. Having all these servers in the same area serves no purpose considering the few players playing the game. This game is a competitive multiplayer game. I think that the servers and their locations could have been worked out to better suite your clients worldwide.
Please consider using trusted partners and allow them to rent ranked servers to the public. I'm sure you will see more traffic on the servers. At least you will see all our servers populated.

Tiggs and Kedhrin have both said that they will allow for people to download the ranked dedicated servers file in the coming week or so, and currently its just a case of blocking areas of the dedicated servers where it could give unfair advantages to players if certain cvars are set

They also expressed an interest in getting game server rentals setup on some GSP's (i'd imagine for both ranked and unranked) but once again they would still have to block off areas where people could make advantage changes as most GSP's offer file access and editing.

And as for the current illfonics ranked ded servers they are region specific, like myself, i dont see the TX ones, I just see ones for europe, so they have distributed them around the world

Those are old news. I was reading the IRC last night after all those posts were made and they stated otherwise. If they want to state that ranked dedis to the public will be allowed, please let them post it.

Come on Kedhrin, you know what we're talking about here as well. Will you make Ranked servers available for the public to host as well? Even if it's via Trusted Partner server providers

You right, I am only here for this reason. We want to host our own ranked servers so we can play on them. As far as playing the game: anyone who was playing the beta saw the DDD Match servers running. Those were ours as we provided servers for others to join and play and they were full most of the time they were up. ATM we are busy playing on our other servers and will come back to play Nexuiz when we get our servers running.

To be honest I'd rather the ranked servers be managed my illfonic only, not the public. That is if they do a good job implementing them.

I'm from the UK and when connecting to their current servers get a bing between 20 and 30. Seems good to me

I guess as long as all settings are locked they should give us the opportunity to rent servers ourselves where we wish - they'd have to be careful though. The last thing we want is modified ranked games.

Restricted access to files and settings (for ranked servers) is commonly used today to prevent modified ranked servers. There are many trusted server providers out there to choose from. It's simple, if any ranked settings are changed the server will list as unranked.

it's not being pussy footed around. there just isn't any need to allow players to host dedicated ranked servers right now.

HOWEVER it is on our todo list.

I guess you're right about not needing them right now. But we do need more players on the servers right now and there are players out there that are waiting to play (as a group) on their (ranked) servers. Maybe allowing this (before it's too late) would benefit all

The only troll here is you. You have no clue little mouse. Never played the other game but I do know what's needed here and you're just a yes man. The kind that will go down with the ship just because you need to feel like you belong somewhere. We have bought a lot of games and have given them all out for free (we still have a few left over) just to promote this game. What have you done lately? If you think trashing me is going to give you brownie points, go ahead little boy. If you're happy to see less than 25 players on the servers than so be it. You'll be happy.
