Ohai,

Here I am again, you probarly missed me.
I didn't like this game too much after playing a few times so I uninstalled it, few reasons were:
-Unbalanced weapons
-Stupid maps(I dont remember the name, but I played a few maps which were extremely messy/way too small)
-Highly luck based(mutators obviously)
-Destroying lag
-No walljump

Well now I didn't want trow my money away for entirely nothing, so I installed it again seeing what changed.
I remember having so search for an game for litteraly 15 minutes, thats different now;
There simply is no game at all anymore. Serverlist, wasn't sure if it all worked or just bugged again since I experienced your BETA that felt as if it rolled out of oblivion, nothing. Quick search, nothing.

Tried a few hours later, nothing and nothing again.

There we go! Another very potential arena shooter destroyed by stupid mistakes of the makers.
At least, I have to thank you for a wise lesson; think before you buy a game.

Sir Como out!

Im sorry but i have to agree whit the OP.
Its a friday night i browsed the dedcated servers and the lowest ping i found was 80 ms. That is terrible from sweden but it still had 0/10 slots and ive spend the last 30 min hosting my own match and nobody has been put in to it.

I really love this game, had alot of fun in a few matches before it crashed on me in beta but now its empty.
If there are players playing on invite only or what ever please send me a msg so i can give you my steam id becose i love this game and would really like to play it.

I agree also. How ever you want to look at it, it's far from a game with "extremely competitive game play" as it is now. Although 10 euro's for a game it not much, for a beta which has 5318452 mistakes/bugs... Too bad, if they would've handled the starting better it might've had a future, now it's just dead unless they fix it all and are able to hype it again, which I seriously doubt :(

The small maps help with smaller games like 1v1. Some of the levels are really fun to play so I would disagree. The servers have only been dead because the server browser didn't work, this is now fixed. I played tonight, joined an empty server, within 5 minutes I had a game of 3 v 3. Saying that the game is bad because it hasnt got walljump is a stupid comment, its like saying you haven't got 'bullet time' or something stupid like that. Ive never experienced bad lag in the game, ive seen some warping but nothing unplayable and ive played plenty worse. I'd agree some of the weapons are unbalanced but that can also be fixed given time. Some of the mutators are stupid and annoying which is why I stick to the instagib servers.

Hi,
the game is not dead, he did not really start. With dedicated servers + the SDK, the problems of lag and maps will be quickly resolved. Personally, I'm hosting 3 Instagib servers (iTDM, CTF and Mix). There are some small problems with the servers now, but once qu'Illionic has fixed the bug with the selection of favorite servers, you could see the other server.

-No walljump : It is UT2004, and the license must be protected by Epic Games.

I think what they wanted to make was notquake meets notUT.
Quake and UT are there, and Warsow already tried quake meets UT, I think.

The reason the game is dead right now is because everyone quit to come back later and see if it was better, only to find that everyone quit.*shock*
Basically, if you want people to start playing, you're going to have to give them something to play against. Since we can't have bots online for whatever reason(disappoint) that means playing against people. So, if you want to make the game active, get your friends together and play some pug rooms. If everyone does this regularly, the game becomes active again, and everyone's happy.(until they start whining that they don't like the game and quit again!)

It was never obliged to be anything like Quake or UT.

Nexuiz has a pretty unique style to it so in my opinion it never faced an identity crisis because of Quake or similar games. It faced an identity crisis because it advertised something it was not, a "competitive" arena based shooter. Randomness doesn't belong in a competitive shooter.
You're confusing the reason with the result. The reason was because this game stacked, bad ping, a lot of bugs and unpolished gameplay onto eachother. And the result is that the people left and the game died out.

That's why your solution of increasing the playernumber will simply not work. It's not a case of invite your friends and more people will follow, because if that was the case, people wouldn't have left in the first place.
There's only one method that would be able to raise a community again. The game needs to be drastically revised and polished, and when that's done they need to advertise it. Advertising a once broken game as fixed means that they would need to directly address the concerns of the community as well.

If people realise it's good, they will automatically start playing it with their friends. But thus far they haven't really presented us with changelogs that actually do big things yet.

What's funny are the people convinced they are just waiting for a "Marketing Push" to make it all right.

There is no marketing push, it flopped guys. It's deader than Brink. There is zero motivation for them to do anything else for this game, it failed so completely. There will never be user generated maps, there will never be multiple full servers, there will never be anything of interest, it's done.

Which sucks, because it was fun when people actually played. And yet like others, I keep checking in to see if anything has changed. Which is sad :(

I won't give up so quick. But I also grew tired of looking at the empty server browser, and I got lots of other stuff to play in the meantime. When it comes to live again, I will notice, right here in this forum.

It failed because of bugs not because of the game which is the opposite of what happened with Brink. I was pretty hyped for this game but it is taking so long to get the bugs ironed out I have gotten bored with waiting, probably going to reinstall UT2k4 soon and possibly start working on a map.

Hopefully Illfonic shoots out a Facebook update in the near future saying that they finally have the game working properly. I will give it another chance at that point.

Yes there where some issues relating to crashes and matchmaking, i feel the biggest upset for the fans was the lack of dedicated servers and ranked dedicated server at launch.

I'll have you know my next dream pc is almost complete, so take your time and make a good game lol. But I'd have to agree with Sanch3z If it weren't for bugs i'm sure most of the community would have stayed till the dedi's released. See if we're having fun it shouldn't matter if it's on a player hosted server or a dedicated but again the bugs kept a lot of people from enjoying the game and that lead to the populations decline. Just keep on trucking though, this games not dead yet Posted Image

the crashes and matchmaking are not the current main problem, its the borked server browser that doesnt allow you to see all servers nor what servers have people on them and the "warping" of players while playing online. Meaning seeing another player in one spot and seeing them disappear and appear somewhere else.
