We have information in the wiki about it, i may give a brief run down on the Illum shaders though.
It would be sweet for newcomers (and i) if there were something brief on materials etc, as the whole, every material being read only thing is rather confusing, and annoying. I even turned off source control at one point and still couldn't see previews no r apply materials that weren't default. >.<

yeah you're probably applying them wrong
ill do a tutorial for them next.
