Bunny hopping and rocket jumping?

One question. What exactly does rocket jumping do?
Rocket jump is when you jump and use the impact of a rocket to make you jump higher (usually to reach good spots and etc)
I think rocket jump is really unnecessary in this game due to the varies jump spots around every map, and also the mutators like low gravity and jetpack.

It is very usefull if u know what ur doing. like someone already said if ur running the flag and want to jump somewhere that u cant reach with a normal jump because ur not always gonna have a mutator on that lets u jump higher or flow mid air.

Bunny hopping is possible and with jump also assigned to the left bumper you can do it with full control still.
Just wonder if we're talking about the same technique. Keeping A/LB pressed for continuous hopping works fine, but can you get speed > running speed with this technique like in Q1? In Q3 it's called strafe jumping. To me it looks like you can go up stairs quicker if you keep hitting A/LB. But else it looks like jumping doesn't affect horizontal speed.

Since I switched the 2, if I hold LB it keeps pogo jumping for me. use pogo jumping for strafes, helps a lot.

Interesting! What you guys should do (IMO) is to switch A and Lb. For some reason if you hold LB down (default controls) it wont keep pogo jumping, but if you do it with A it keeps pogo jumping.

When rocket jumping, you want to jump and fire the rocket almost at the same time to get the greatest height out of your jump. If you fire your rocket too early or too late you won't get as much height and may miss your jump.

And the bunny hopping (or pogo as call in the game) is possible but it is very difficult. And you don't have to keep your finger on the button, I do it with A (I'm not pretty good with it yet but I keep practicing). And you can press A then go with your joystick to aim then press A again and you have enough time between each jump to shoot people or just aim somewhere else to go faster.

Or you just learn to hold the left bumper down. I'm almost 30 and I had this down in less than one match. I have spent the last 10 years jumping with the A button, and after 10 minutes of using LB, I never want to go back. Maybe for a slow game like Battlefield the A button works fine, but not for anything faster.I might also add to this mine of informations that rocket jumping and strafe jumping/bunny hooping can be combine. You just do a reverse rocket jump. Actually, you aim the other way you want to go and go backwards. Then, you do the rocket jump with a little angle, you'll get far and you will also get a lot of speed.

Well, that's interesting. So you just always hold the left bumper? What button is your secondary shooting?

Left trigger. Somewhere along the way, I learned to use my middle fingers for the triggers when I had to. I figured that was the norm these days, since many games make good, consistent use of the bumpers.Well, that's interesting. So you just always hold the left bumper?
