Ok, so UT99 has a ton of people on it, more than I've seen in years(server browser just said over 700 people!). Most are familiar with Quake Live and other Q3 based games, but UT is different. The weapons are all very original and have useful fire modes, and the movement is more grounded, less about jump pads and pogo jumping, more about dodging.

The game is available in the Unreal Anthology pack which can be had for $10-$20, but if you only want UT99, just let me know and we'll see what we can come up with.

It was best known for it's mod community, and there are still some very good, and very much played mods for it. One that comes to mind is called "Monster Hunt". It's a co-op game type that has you traveling from point A to point B killing all kinds of monsters, and usually a final battle at the end with a huge creature. Lots of people play it and it can be loads of fun.

It's a Windows game, but there is a linux patch. I run linux, but since it's a tiny distro(puppy linux) it lacks many of the libs that are usually included with Ubuntu, so I just play with Wine and it runs at %100 for me. And I'm sure it will run, probably even on the highest settings, on any computer today.

Whenever man. I haven't played in while and I don't have a particular server, but we can figure it out. If we aren't friends already, send me a friend request and we can party chat on xbl while we play.

I installed the HD textures yesterday and went through the graphical settings and maxed everything out. The game looks soooo much better now. If anyone wants to go that route, I can help point you in the right directions, but be warned, you better have about 5GB of free space and some time.

Here's a great guide: http://www.ut99.org/...55529502f77b15a

Go to step 4 and download the opengl renderer, "utglr37.zip", and extract it to your system folder(eg. unreal tournament/system wherever you installed it to). If it's crashing, you should be given the option to select a renderer on start up. Select "show all devices" and choose the Open GL renderer.

If you have framerate issues, let me know. Some dual and quad core processors don't like the game, but there are work arounds.

I'm an oldie for UT:99/GOTY. Been playing that since GOTY came out. You can catch me online whenever as "tautheory", so hit me up and I would be down to play 1v1 or whatever!

Man. I loved that game in LAN with bots back then, but I never owned it, only my buddy. Since i have all the other Unreals (1,2, 2003, 2004, 3) except UT99, buying the Anthology Pack would make no sense. Know where can I get it cheap?

If you pay me a couple of bucks I could put up my GOTY in an ISO online for you to download ;)

I still play instagib pretty often and have been, on and off, for the past 12 years now. Still haven't found a game that touches the intensity and skill of IG CTF. I still remember some of the clan matches I had back on ogl. Good stuff, too bad I'm not as good as I used to be :(

? You don't need a serial for UT99.

I get smashed in this game. Really. People who play this game know their maps, and weapon spawns and stuff. They frag you before you even get close to a weapon spawn.
Still fun though, nostalgia ;-)

My mistake, I believe I was thinking about UT2004. Oh well i own the game legally so I torrented a copy, and now I find out my vpn doesn't allow me to play UT99 online. :C
