I just bought Nexuiz and have played it for a fair amount. If you're thinking of buying the game, I'd like to give some advice, rather than the misleading stuff I read on here before buying it.

I'll start with the bad news:

#1 It takes a long time to get into a game. 1 minute is the minimum waiting time, it can go anywhere from 1-5 minutes, just because the game requires a strict 6 or 8 players, and people constantly go in and out of lobbies to prevent getting that perfect number. I'm not talking about after midnight or early morning, I'm talking about afternoon and evenings.

#2 There are a lot of leavers, and this ruins the game significantly. Since it's a small team number, even 1 person gone can upset the balance, especially on CTF. The problem is even worsened by the matchmaking system, since it never adds people to existing games. Since players know this, they will leave since they know a substitute/replacement won't be coming; therefore a leaver leads to the rest of the team leaving.

Good news

#1 Variety in guns are great. Mutators are very fun. The gunplay and arcade atmosphere is refreshing. Most of the maps are well designed.

#2. There is essentially no lag, and there'sy not many connection issues

How to fix the game

#1 Prioritize matchmaking system to place people in EXISTING games, rather than make new, half-empty lobbies
#2 Allow games to start 3v4, and just quickly add people from the matchmaking system (since it should prioritize adding people to existing games)
#3 Leavers should have a 10 minute delay to get back into a new game. Leaving because of an emergency or internet issues is understandable, but in those circumstances you wouldn't be planning to play a game right after leaving.

If I remember correctly, I think they mentioned that fixing the matchmaking is a priority.

If there's a power outage, you won't be able to get into a game afterwards anyway (since power is down). That's a silly excuse for a rare occasion anyway, it does not represent the majority of leaves.

There really should be consequences for leaving, since it's not only about you but also 7 other people that you ruin the game for them

the reason i mention power outages is some times the houses in my city lose power then it comes back butt it was gone long enough to cause a DC in online games

and if u have read more thread u would have read about other important info too. most of the problems u mention are already explain in other threads and talk about it and they are working on fixing then it just takes time to release an update on XBL.

are you high or something? what game have u being playing? if u get into a game where host its pretty bad the game sucks cuz u cant hit shit. unless ur getting host every single game then u have not experience this and if u play a custom game host advantage its too much. again they are trying to solve this issues it just takes a long time for them to fix them. hopefully when the next update comes it will all be better.

Yeah, don't buy it.

At least, not on the Xbox anyway. PC or not at all, I guess the PS3 version will suffer similar major problems to it's console bretherin. At least, I hope most of the issues will be addressed on the PC as there's a great game undearneth struggling to get out.

At the moment, I would advise against buying the game as there are a TON of bugs and issues that need sorting out with regards to networking code, matchmaking speed, consitency of updates.

But once the game has been proven to run as it should without flaws, it is well, well, well, well, well, well worth the $10.

The strange thing is, usually games are made on the PC and then ported onto the consoles. For Nexuiz, they're doing it the other way around? I think they might abandon the console versions and focus on the PC beta and dlc... -____- a bit disheartening...

lets not go wild and throw false accusations every where yes they are working on the pc beta right now because were in soft beta and its not working right so we cant even evolve into regular beta im a tester i know its also been stated there working on fixing xbox issues and ps3 is still in the pipeline with no plans to cancel it as of right now
so sorry bud no abandonment here

join games in progress

Hey guys,

we just got this working on PC, so we should be able to get it moved over to Xbox 360 in our larger DLC patch, i hope. It should usually be a simple thing... unfortunately, things like stats, host migration and dynamic mutators being active made it really tricky.

I don't normally care whether or not people use precise spelling or grammar on the internet, just as long as I can understand them. The problem is when I don't understand what the hell you are talking about regardless. Rephrase your shit bro.

I've talked to some testers of the Illfonic team on here, and while I do think it is great that they are connecting with users and trying their best to solve issues, I still can't help but feel the 360 version is being put on the backburner. I don't know why the team is focusing all of their efforts into a PC Beta, when the 360 "full retail release" still has glaring problems.

If problems exist on the 360 version, what makes one think that it wont exist on the PC version? Saying something like "oh yea we'll have x fixed in the PC beta" or "oh yea, we'll add feature y in the PC beta to help with that issue" is flat out disrespectful to the paying players already on the 360 version.

Guys i couldn't agree more with your frustration on this topic. It's absolutely grueling for me to play because of rage quitters and how long matchmaking works.

The good news is we got joining a match in session working on PC. This means we are going to be able to add it back to the Xbox 360. With PC development, there are a lot of fixes and features we hope to bring back to the xbox 360. We really appreciate your guys patience with us on this and we hope to get it to you ASAP.

im not saying problems wont exist on pc i was saying that some xbox issues they have fixed on pc and are working towards putting them(the fixes) back into the xbox version because monk was talking about console abandonment and i was telling him noo they dont plan to abandon you guys

and as far as pc beta goes of course there gonna devote some man power to it .it doesnt work at all it has not since day 1 . so they are doing there best to remedy that there not choosing us over yall just right now you guys have a plat form that works even if its got major issues and our platform doesnt work at all so there workin on that

but in time both our platforms will work and we can chat on these forums as nexuiz brothers and come together as part of the nexuiz /illfonic family but patience is key on both sides
