There's a lot of issues surrounding this, and the blunt truth is getting a patch to Xbox users is a major pain in the ass. With the PC development going forward, almost every feature we're adding (server browsing, etc.) are being made with possible xbox implementation in mind. We hope to get this all in one big package with a DLC patch as well.... hopefully we'll have more info to you guys on this soon.
Can you give us an ETA on this big DLC package for Xbox?

SimeonofDeath, here is what I see happening. We will get one big patch, if lucky, that will try to deal with all the bugs/glitches and any other code work they want to fix. Maybe even a new map or two. It will be free as a one of kind of deal, but there won't be anymore due to xbox's strict policys, and the cost of a simple patch/DLC.
LedZeppelin, they may be close to getting the dlc delivered, but xbox makes it very difficult to give a release date. You pretty much have to have everything all finished before giving an ETA on a delivery date.
Kedhrin, I give you guys credit for a great FPS arcade game. A lot of people don't understand what it takes to make a supported game on the 360. The guys at uber entertainment took a lot of heat from it's console based fans due to all the complications. They kept promising but the policies made it impossible to deliver. A lot of the heat however was with how they handled the updates. They kept promising until one day they put out a trailer for the PC exclusive sequel and made the announcement that console was scrapped. If that's the case here, just give us a heads up
Apparently, Xbox charges about $40,000 for an arcade title update, and has tons of requirements.

Its important to remember that it was never clarified whether that meant INCLUDING the cost of development to create the patch and test it before submitting it to MS or if it's $40,000 IN ADDITION to all of the costs associated with producing a patch that a game developer would naturally have to pay (you must pay your staff to work, plus the cost of running your offices while the patch is being created, etc.).
Maybe Illfonic can help to clear that up. Illfonic peeps: is it $40,000 just to MS alone plus the cost of making the patch, or is it $40,000 TOTAL for a patch start to finish (creating it, paying the staff and the bills, then paying MS to upload it)?
Either way, it IS a huge load of money. I'm just curious about it.

Doesn't include making the patch. The $40,000 is just to Microsoft just to get the patch available on Xbox.

There is noplace in that link that clarifies. Shaefer just says that it costs $40,000 to put up a patch, he didn't elaborate at all on how the cost breaks down. Then someone asked for the same clarifications in the comments below the article but nobody answered that one way or the other either, so the question still remains: $40,000 for MS PLUS the cost of development or $40,000 to create the patch and pay MS as well?
I'm DEFINITELY not defending MS here, I actually find a lot of their practices abhorant. I just find it hard to believe that MS would ask 40,000 just to upload a patch and when I first heard that this might be the case a month or two ago I tried really hard to find the answer here and was never able to find anything definitive. Some like you say that it is $40,000 just to MS, others have said it is both MS's cut and development costs combined. I would love to hear from an industry person to find out the real answer.

Quote from Uber dev
When you add in test time, fees and the time it takes for a patching process, it can get to $40k. Tim's pretty close.
We've patched 23 times over the last five months on Steam and it costs us $0.
Pretty fricken ridiculous if you ask me.

I used to program, I know very well that sometimes you need several updates before you nail certain problems down. 3 updates (NOT AT ALL uncommon in the programming world) in this case could cost upwards of $120,000!!!! Bejeezus.
I wish I liked the PS3 lineup and the controllers and PSN for multiplayer better than the 360 equivelants. I've played PS3 extensively because my best friend who I grew up with and is still my brother to this day is a PS3 guy, so when we game at his house I'm using a PS3. Thus I have a measuring stick, I DO prefer the 360 over the PS3. I love my console but MS themselves piss me off in many ways. Making it this expensive to patch games hurts everyone but MS. It can do nothing to help the industry as a whole. I remember when MS was promoting themselves as a friend to the indie developer. Do costs to do business like this sound like they are very friendly to indies? No. REALLY makes me want to switch to Sony. I wish I knew that Sony's practices were better, but I don't.

I honestly wish it was worth creating a console game and supporting it, but dev's quickly realise the future of gaming is PC. I'm a true console fan, but even I realize this. Monday Night Combat was an innovative and competitive game that had a very good future, but they couldn't reach that future because of xbox's policies.
Uber's only patch added an additional level, fixed a lot of bugs/glitches, and added new glass walls for protection as well as moving turrets slightly. All of this costed nothing, thankfully, but that's about 40,000 they lost just from that.

You will never get new maps for the 360 because microsoft will charge its user. So maps can not developed and shared freely amonst the community. Like on the PC or ps3.

HAHA, I can not believe people still own their soon to be banned, xbox360's. Stop whining about microsoft policies and buy a ps3.

They will most definitely charge us for it if the DLC have Achievements, no Achievements and there is a bigger chance on it being free.
Wish i had -->
