So my idea to grab more people to the Nexiuz communities is this. Put Classic Nexuiz up on Steam under the F2P titles, enough new players and old will start playing. Bringing life back to a game that has rarely more then 3 full servers. As well as getting a name out for the upcoming Nexuiz game.

Hey .RB., thanks for the post. This is an interesting idea, will run it by Kedhrin. Not sure of the legalities/business aspect of that, but worth a shot! Thanks again. - Jay

Excellent idea. I'd like to see either Nexuiz classic or Xonotic up on steam... as a F2P it could definitely be a recruitment tool.

Hell it could even be a money maker, people could buy skins, DLC's, map packs. It would be a way for the game to "fund its own way" instead of having paid developers dedicating time to it for no returns.

To keep it from competing with the current nexuiz it could be sort of purposed differently in some ways, who knows.

The great thing about Nexuiz Classic/Xonotic is it'll run on anything. Hell it could very easily compete with Quake Live if it had a little marketing thrown at it. I know the community may not like this idea, but it could be scaled back to maybe 4 weapons & the laser, offering a different stylization on graphics (Nexuiz appeals to Crytek 3, Nexuiz classic could appeal to classic arena/Q3 style graphics).

I think there's a legit business opportunity in illfonic providing a place for tournaments in both games too, an addon to this site possibly for monetized winning pots.

Its worth playing around with, not every gaming company thinks outside the box.

I don't see why cutting the weapon selection down would be a good thing? Or why you mentioned Xonotic when Illfonic has nothing to do with it?

Xonotic is still in beta, so I think any form of advertisement has been put on hold. If you wanna help with advertising Xonotic, you can always stop by the forums and offer your services.

As for Classic Nexuiz, I don't take issue with it being put on Steam, but I don't think adding paid dlc is in the spirit of the game. It would probably work out in Xonotic's favor though, as the community could port the dlc and add it for free(if it is good).

Oh wow, what a great idea! I would love to see that happen, especially since both of those games are rather dead right now, and are a hell of a lot of fun, if Illfonic could help push that idea, it would certainly make them look like less of a bad guy to the classic nexuiz/xonotic community, you know, due to certain conflicts I wont get into here.

I'm just gonna throw this out there but promotional TF2 hats for purchasing the game. We all know it's been used as a marketing tool to promote soon to be released and or new products on steam.

To name a few
-Spiral Knights
-Deus Ex
-Rift
-Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse
-Poker Night at the Inventory
-Left4Dead2
-Homefront
-Monday Night Combat
-Killing Floor
-Worms: Reloaded
-Portal 2
-Alien Swarm

Oh and we can't forget the Ear Buds for logging into the game with a Mac or the Mann Co. Cap for making a purchase in the cash shop.
If your like me and can't grip a mouse for shit buy a golf glove. They're skin tight, offer a superb tactile feel (so you can feel everything), and keep the damn mouse in your hand.

CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k 4.3MHz
Mobo: ASUS P67 Sabertooth
GPU: Geforce 295 896mb soon to be Geforce 670 4b FTW+
RAM: Corsair Dominator 1866MHz 4GB
Network card: Killer 2100

Monitor: BenQ XL2420T 120hz
Keyboard: Steelseries 7G
Mouse: Steelseries sensei (DPI 5600/Sens 2)

Okay, I run a tf2 server, and I can tell you for a fact, this would definitely bring people in.

Wow, I can't believe no one came up with this earlier, this is brilliant! It would get people excited with that authentic Quake feel to it, and, when they hit the quit button, slap them around the ears with a "Check Nexuiz on Steam" splash screen, 90's shareware style!

No, but all joking aside, this could actually make for some great advertising! I'm all for it, so get on it, Illfonic

Good job my fellow marketing department co-workers, I think we're making some decent progress here. Now if only we could get some form of payment for all this brainstormin.
