In Topic: Mutators are destroying the game!

Or maybe it's because Mutators are fun?

Anyway, there are "no mutator" servers.
Also, map control is a huge part of competitive shooters, and the Strength pickup is actually the weakest damage booster out there.(2x as apposed to 3x(UT I think had 3X) or 4x(Quad Damage/Quake)

Yeah but atleast in quake its was not random and it actually took good map control to make the best use of them where as in Nexuiz its all based on luck and a lot of the mutators are a total waste of time as well it feels like they just made more of them for the sake of having more content.

I think the reason ultimately that mutators are in the game even though they obviously break balance and don't work in a competitive game is because in the video games industry unlike every other entrainment industry if you don't have some kind of a new mechanic people will regard your game as the same old crap and wont buy it since people base their perceptions as to how good a game is based on how many new features it has rather then on the overall quality of the execution.

The problem with this however is that pretty much everything has been done before so now we have reached the point where we as gamers must put up with gimmicky mechanics being placed in pretty much every game since if they don't add some kind of a new feature people will just bitch about no innovation and the game wont sell.

Which is why games like Nexuiz are being made so casulized because in a competive game there are certain game features you should NEVER do like for example cod style perks and mass weapons customization as its all terribly unbalanced because balance is heavily affected by how many mathematical variables you have in a game. So as a result its no longer about offering great well balanced games without broken perk style systems like mutators. Its about making games with the most amount of features which is why every shooter is ending up with very similar features to cod because cod has the systems in place that allow your game to have the most potential for X amount of content/new game mechanics.

im sorry bro...but if the devs do what you ask this game is dead for me.
i am not gonna spend 30 seconds or less lookin for a kill again.

like chef said...3v3 blows bigtime

if you like huuuuuge maps and loooove lookin for one guy to kill every 2 minutes trie BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2
SQUAD DEATHMATCH
im pretty sure youll love it

Lol I loved squad deathmatch too it was the only thing I played in that game! Nothing wrong with having well spaced maps that are not overcrowded I mean you don't want too few players but come to think of it bad company 2 was damn near perfect in that regard as far as I'm concerned at least for that mode anyways I don't really remember the others so much because i didn't really play them that much.

So far I've only noticed *one* instance of teleporting/lag. pre patch it would be like 50x a game.

I have noticed some framerate drops. If i'm using strength and there's electro balls around and I'm looking at an entire map and 5-7 other players it will drop to what I'm guessing is 15 FPS for a few seconds. Not god awful terrible. It's all in all much better than pre patch.

If this game were this good feeling when the game was released there would be many more people on these forums right now.

Maybe its my internet then I don't know I have so many problems with my isp but there is no really decent alternative for me where I live right now although I'm going to be making calls soon to see anything has changed.

I have had some issues with the patch although have only played a few games since it came out.

The things that seem to be an issue for me with the new patch are the fact that for one it appears like the characters are doing more of the kind of like lag teleporting. As an example I mean when a player is moving in say a straight line or jumps and then just seems to teleport a bit forward, it does not appear game breaking but its rather noticeable.

Another issue I have now is with the rockets that I shoot they seem to teleport back in time much like the player movement thing but backwards of course and then go towards its destination again hitting on the second run. This rocket issue appears quite problematic as its happening frequently and appears to really break the rocket launcher when it occurs.

I also had an issue like Chef but with a mutator not getting picked up at one point although that was happening on occasion before the patch so I have no reason to believe its any different.
