Sick of people posting about the speed and movement in Nexuiz when they haven't actually tested it properly. There are no "little" ways to gain speed. Gaining speed is the biggest in-your-face ability, hold jump and you will gain speed whether on level ground or extra velocity up inclines. It's easy and automatic and anybody playing for 2 minutes will understand this. You can chain mortar and rocket jumps off various launch and jump pads for bigger and faster jumps. Even worse are people posting there is no air control. Player movement is no better or worse than Quake or UT, it's simply different but saying it is slow, hard to gain speed, or lacks air control is abosultely false. Quake player movement resulted in abilities unforeseen in the nature it was made. Bunnyhopping, strafe jumping/circle jumping were quirks that remained from unintentional design and defined Quake. Player movement in Nexuiz is mostly intentional and by design. Because it doesn't do what Quake does to maintain certain things is not a drawback.

For the lulz, obtain a super hagar and fire at your feet while jumping backwards.

I have similar experiences.  In another post I made I described the situation where from full health and half armor I get taken down to no armor and less than 25% health (right around 10%) from one shot of something (i want to believe it's a direct rocket hit).  In that particular match I got 1 shot killed shortly after spawning or one shot killed as I was grabbing shards.  In a series of 10 deaths, 6 were powerups/strength,  at least 3 deaths were not and I asked the playwer which powerups he had.  None were active.  I never experienced such a thing in Nexuiz until this week.  Not only that, the refinery map still has an exploit somewhere.  I recorded video too, hope I can post it soon to show you but anyway, as I was playing I did not encounter the other player, was just two of us on illfonic server, then I start taking damage but I can locate nobody.  At first I believe is of course invisibility, but after 3-5 minutes of not seeing him and he killing me a few more times I was a little worried.  Just to be sure I rocket jumped from mezanines and other jump pads to see if he is on top of giant bolts at maps edge (spots I like to rj too for advantage) but I do not see him.  I then just resort to standing still and seeing where shots come from.  LOL I watched rockets begin to magically appear from a wall!  Always same spot and return fire registers nothing at all, just wall decals.  I believe he had climed or jetpacked to the top of center where you can clip the cieling and still fire into the map (I posted video of this elsewhere).  Lobbing rockets from exploit location and remote guiding them with arc always at same spot, making it appear as if shot from wall.  Meh, that and these dubious 1-2 shot kills all happen on dedicated servers.

Just curious, wouldn't an unranked server operate under less restrictions and be more customizable? How is that worse for a clan who is "waiting to play" if they have the option to host or rent an unranked server before a ranked one. I have always believed "ranked" to be a pretty bad swindle for gamers. An unranked game can be played on the exact same maps, under the exact same rules and with the exact same setups. Ranked is just stats for the most part, find the protocol Nexuiz uses and make a program that gives local stats for your server and comunity (my cland did that twice for games, found protocol and we made a stats database for our server and a robust admin tool). Ranked and Unranked are not two separate games, they are meaningless conditions within the same game and as a gaming community we should fight more for the abolition of "ranked" bs and server setup restrictions.

Ranked systems only prove to stagnate games and hinder them from evolving. The best games will often have community contributions adding to its longevity because it isn't restricted to a locked down "trusted partners" ranked lockbox.

F*ck in-game stats, it's annoying and hasn't tracked properly yet. If you want people to know you are good then get a youtube channel and post your frag vids to prove it, your kdr and other ratios, i find, people will not care about (i thought differently before) because fps leaderboards are full of stat padders.
