What does everyone think of the DoubelDamage?

First, I totaly hate the effect that it gives you when you pick it up, its really hard to see people when its on. And dont tell me its to balance it!

Second the Icon that appears when the N starts to spawn. I think it should be on the player to remind that this Poweritem is about to spawn, and not the games purpose to tell everyone hey this item spawns soon. Its like Trainingwheels .. take them off

Yup I agree, though the visual effects don't phase me anymore.

Yeah, remove the reminder icon, make it 4x instead of 2x damage, and replace the N by a Q :P

No, I think Nexuiz has its own style. Casualized gameplay with effectful graphics. If that's what folks want nowadays I'm more than happy to jump on that train.

Double Strength has the visual impairment because of how OP it is, so it's kinda like the way to neutralize it

just look for the red names and you'll be set ;)

I wonder if thats good because there are better mutators that give you more of a "van Ownership" (or at least the same )then Double damage, and that dont have the backdraw of eye chancer causing graphics, things like Tesla man, super weapons, Reflector , enemy weakening mutators like Slow fire , and more.

Its said it whont change. So i dont have any other option but to life with it. But still, i dont see the Logic behind it.
Its a pure Design decision to make it that way.
I think theres no need to continue arguing about it, anyway noone in this topic is even arguing beside saying "Dont use it if you dont like it" wich contributes nothing to a discussion about it. So theres nothing to discuss here, beside me talking to myself.

thats what he said and nobody its saying otherwise cuz it probably does not bother them just you. I mean am not being a dick or anything i get it, it bothers you or annoys you and you think it has no purpose, hell the freaking nex crosshair bothers me too but its not like am not gonna use it i just dont use it as much cuz of that reason. What am trying to say is you made your point and people are not agreeing with you thats all there is to it.

It just doesnt makes sense to me "neutraize" n-Damage but onthe other hand have Mutators that outpower it by far.Alos it more like ly a console problem because on PC youll propably able to personalize the graphics much more and PC people will find a way to turn it off.

I think double damage is just about right. I love the reminder because otherwise the only person that knows when it will spawn is the person that picked it up and you won't have the epic strategic battles that result every time it spawns like you do now.

That said, I would prefer double damage(and all pickups on the maps) to be set to static/preset timers that are consistent in every game. This would eliminate the need for the indicator. For the pace of Nexuiz I would say something like.

Armor Shards: 15-20s
Large Armor: 30-45s
Weapons: 30-60s
Powerups: 90-120s
Mutators: 45-120s (because of how different the mutators can be as far as effectiveness goes, being able to set a list of mutators to a given spawn point would be good for determining an appropriate spawn time)

This would be like a tier system where some mutator pickups are all tier 1 and would spawn every 45s. Tier 2 every 60s and tier 3 every 90s(just examples)

I don't think there should be a reminder that basically says, "HEY EVERYONE IN THE GAME, IM SPAWNING NOW"

I think whoever picks it up should be rewarded for actually timing it. Map control....makes it more of a challenge also

And I respectfully disagree. I think everyone knowing when it spawns means you have to actually earn it with strategy and skill rather than get it once and time it the rest of the game.

Not sure what double damage pickup you guys are talking about considering strength is a 4x multiplier. (OP...still would be annoying at 2x) As for the indicator although it does help noobs out, I dont mind it. It can make for some epic battles and I feel that we really shouldnt be expected to time any item until they fix their broken hud bars not really into pressing back every 10 seconds
