Seems like this classic shooter will get a new chance. The game was originaly released back in 2005 and was realy bad in so many ways. Sure the MP was good but the community was dead and it took ages to start a match. No news if it will get some better graphics etc

hmmm i didnt get too much this game much at all. i think i only play it a couple of times and thats it. so i have no idea if there were issues with the MP on the 360. There probably were and if they have manage to fix them and hopefully make the multipler experience better it might be a good idea and its quake we talking about so they do deserve another change to make it right. Lets just hope they do.

Just like Nexuiz you needed a certain amount of players for a game to start, so with a dead community you could search for 20-30 min and nothing. The game dident have any bots either so there was no chance to get a MP game to start, add the leaderboards achievement for #1 spots and there where only achievement boosters playing it.

Thats not what i ment by what problems the 360 had. Am sure the game die fast but i did get to play it a few times and i dont rememebr havving issues the first couple of days or weeks after the game came out. Am talking about game bugs/glitches, Netcode was bad, host advantage was too much and if there was dedicated servers or not ( i dont rememeber if it did i think it didnt not sure ) and things like that.

There has to be a reason why ppl didnt like the game much. Yes the MP experience was complety diferent than the older quake games multiplayer but they weere probably trying to keep up with times and making something new. But if u look at this video thats the pc version btw the game doesnt look bad so am just wondering what were the issues the 360 had back then as i didnt play it much or even remember much about this game.

Well, they are doing more than Epic has done for UT in recent years. Still, I didn't see anything special in Q4 except that it had a shiny new engine. If they put a commendable effort into making it a seriously competitive game online, like improving the net code and matchmaking, this could be cool(assuming it doesn't cost more than an XBLA title)

But considering I could probably have a better experience on Quake Live on PC with m/kb, and at a steady 120 fps, I don't know if it's even worth it.

Well i was reading and it will only cost $20. They will probably make some changes to the MP and probably just release a MP game only. Cuz i think what happen was they focused too much on the single player and forgot about the MP. Again didnt really play the game so am just guessing here. But it def got my attention plus the game is suppose to be coming out in june so lets hope its better. BTW i like the graphics and watching that game made me want to play it so am def waiting to see this game in june.

I hope you're right. I think Bethesda is a smart company, they should understand that no one really cares about the Quake single player anymore.

On a different topic, I played Quake2world for a bit online yesterday. It doesn't have the polish of Q3A, but Q2 mp has a certain charm that I can't quite place. Maybe because the game was made for pure fun, before the politics of competitive play took hold of the series.

I dont see Bethesda as a smart company gaming wise. Brink had TONS of potential which I think the devs could have produced had Bethesda not been in the way. Bethesda is business smart maybe, I doubt they care about releasing decent or even working games. They are out for profit and profit only just like many businesses.

I still play Q4 online to this day. You only need 2 to start a match, that's it. 2 or more players in the lobby will start a 2 minute countdown to the start of the match in order to give more people a chance to join, but if you have a full room the game starts automatically. There is a small but dedicated community of us left that AREN'T boosters, I can usually find games if I play in the afternoons or evenings. Early morning and late night can be ghost towns on the game though and there ARE still boosters, although they do not comprise the majority of players on.

I have been playing Enemy Territory (mostly etqw) for years. I cannot tell you how disappointed Splash Damage's most loyal and long time fans were with BRINK. It was a complete and nasty 180 from the level and quality of their previous games. They ignored the community for months prior to release, flat out lied about support, and totally refused to followup with anything meaningful. I personally spent 500 dollars on BRINK the week it launched, getting multiple copies for clanmates and putting up servers. Why this is relevent is because most of us who used to adore Splash Damage blame Bethesda. Bethesda is just as bad as EA or Activision and maybe it's more to do with Zenimax but anyway... as soon as two quality developers took on the Bethesda branding they ended up making the worst games in their careers (RAGE was released blatantly unfinished). There were even rumors from a Splash Damage employee that their management and publisher had ruined the dev process but NDA's prevented discussion. He said he looked forward to a GDC to spill the beans but I haven't followed it since. Splash Damage has, however, broken from Bethesda ranks and started a new publishing outfit themselves.

Bethesda is awful and half the blame belongs to them for tarnishing id so much with RAGE.

I liked the singleplayer Think I bought it about a year after release, and when I wanted to try MP I could not find a single match. When I did some research most forum post said MP was dead from the start, and that's what I belived. Never tried again.
I must admit, I'd really like to see it getting a second chance. Hope it's free for people who already own a copy.

What about Wolfenstein that was a shame also a pure console-port where you even could see the xbox controller buttons ingame.
For Brink i had high hopes also, but it looks these days there's never gonna be a shooter like RTCW or ET which was free.
I think we may blaim the consoles for that although the consoles are getting behind these days so pc gaming is slightly making its move back.
